Parents, catechists, religious educators, clergy and other interested adults are drawn to the very rich, retreat-like courses offered by the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. These formation courses may be taken as a personal retreat, or to prepare the adult to work with children in the Atrium setting.
Formation is offered at three levels, beginning at Level 1:
Level I is for children ages 3 – 6
Level II is for children ages 6 – 9
Level III is for children ages 9 – 12
Each level includes 100 hours of Adult Reflections, Practicum, Material Making and Observation. Each level is usually completed in two sections, Part 1 (45+ hours) and Part 2 (45+ hours).
All courses offer:
* An introduction to the particular atrium environment
* Exercises of Practical Life
* Age-appropriate themes from the Bible and the Liturgy
* The purpose and use of the handmade materials
* Experience in presenting material
* Help in preparing a Personal Handbook guiding work with children.
Upon completion of the courses, The Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd grants a certificate of attendance which is recognised by other CGS Associations around the world.
Courses are offered throughout Australia (and nearby countries in South East Asia) in varied formats:
* Week-long courses * Over several weekends * One day a week/month throughout the year
Formation courses are offered when a group of interested people arrange dates and times with available Formation leaders. These arrangements are facilitated by the Association. If you would like to arrange a course in your area, please contact us for details on cgsaust.org.au
